EUREKA was an EU-funded action that aimed to help ensure the longer-term and wider use by farmers, foresters and other rural businesses of the practical knowledge and innovative solutions that are generated by Horizon 2020 multi-actor projects.

EUREKA is the sister project of EURAKNOS.

Follow-up project will support knowledge exchange between all AKIS actors in EU

A new project under Horizon Europe, named ‘EU FarmBook’, will build upon the two previous projects EURAKNOS and EUREKA. The ‘EU FarmBook’ will further strengthen the platform by continuing to construct and refine a fully functional user-friendly digital knowledge reservoir that is effectively integrated through networking and cooperation activities with all key actors in EU and national level AKISs, including the newly established post-2020 national AKIS Coordination Bodies, national CAP Networks and EU-level EIP-AGRI Support Facility.

In the new project, the project partners and developers will continue to improve user-friendliness, development of search functions, division of categories, properly handling of the Community and Expert sections, and last but probably most importantly will ensure corporation and connection with other databases, increasing the amount of high-quality knowledge objects of the EU FarmBook platform.

WE HAVE EXPLORED THE FEASIBILITY OF BUILDING AN OPEN DATA KNOWLEDGE RESERVOIR BY:

SELECTING AND VALIDATING

We have actively engaged with the multi-actor project community to select the most relevant and high impact knowledge and innovation for meeting the practical needs of farmers, foresters and other rural businesses.

BUILDING

We are building the EU FarmBook to present this knowledge and innovation in an accessible, easily searchable and open source e-platform that is available long-term to a broad range of relevant users.

  • Since 2014, the EU has invested in a large number of agricultural research, innovation, coordination and support actions to improve knowledge flows in the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKISs)...this action aims at improving knowledge flows in the long-term by proposing ways to structure and connect agricultural knowledge created through EU-funded and other projects with a view to maximize their impact beyond the end of the projects themselves

  • EUREKA builds upon experience gained in the EURAKNOS project and approximately 50% of the partners in EUREKA also participated in EURAKNOS. We therefore anticipate great complementarity and synergy between the two projects!
